wanderer7 : wanderer7 Stuff I Don't Know About

Stuff I Don't Know About

Posted on May 13th, 2008 by wanderer7 : wanderer7 wanderer7

here are some things I don't have a clue about, but maybe one day would like to learn about:

1. Photoshop - it seems as though every man and his brother is into image manipulation these days ... the best I can do is a dodgy crop, and maybe a tackless resize.  All else, is just a mystery to me.  Was never good at drawing or painting, and that translates into digital art.

2. Permaculture - I live in an apartment, so no chance for even a small little patch of earth.  I am fascinated by the practice of growing crops WITH NATURE, rather than against her ... sort of maximising the efficient forces at play.

3. Reiki - never got into this side of the New Age.  I'm not psychic in any way, have no paranormal abilities, and yep, can't heal with my hands either.  But I have no doubt of the efficacy of "energetic methods" when it comes to alternative treatments ... just one look at acupuncture tells you something vastly deep is going on inside the human body; more than physical mechanics.

4. Myspace / Facebook - it seems as though if you aren't on one of these two sites, you are a social leper, an outcast.  Well, only one online community for me!

5. Guitar Music - as you might know, I write music, in the classical and baroque vein, and use the "standard" orchestral set of instruments.  Guitar is very much excluded from this.  The Spaniards take great offence to this, and their "classical" composers make use of this instrument, but not many others.  I'm still a little wary of the capabilities of the acoustic guitar though ...

to paraphrase someone in recent times:  I know what I know, and I know what I don't know, I don't know what I don't know ...

If you want something that will make you laugh AND teach you some Photoshop, look up “You Suck at Photoshop” on YouTube.  Awesome stuff.

I like this….

BTW…Photoshop Elements (for Mac) is much easier (within minutes you can be doing cool stuff…wrinkle removal, however, needs to be studied)…  I've had Reiki, but never done it. Kinda cool. And I'm with you re: ONE online community….I don't care for the others (the two you mentinoned). Not interested in: Hi, I'm 12. Wanna chat?

:)

Re Photoshop - just take a picture (and save the original to your hard-drive if you don't want it changed).  Then upload it to photoshop, rename it and begin to explore, read some of the help files - in short PLAY!  That's how I learned most of what I do.

Funny about Reiki - I am very psychic, do have the ability to do “touch” healing, and just don't seem to be drawn to it either.  Sounds too much like a “religion” for me to get into it.  Certainly not into the idea of “master” this or “level” that!  And too many different “types” each competing with one another for top cheese.  Yuck!!!

Ahhhh, Myspace and Facebook - my (grownup) kids are still trying to get me to sign up on there - I've found Gaia and a half dozen “Ning” networks is about all I can keep up with.  Actually, really love the “Ning” thing even more than here, because at least there I don't have copyright issues like here on Gaia.

So, I guess you're pretty normal…… at least from my point of view.

oh wONDEROUS wANDERER, So, there are limits to your knowledge and wisdom? Somehow I find this both reassuring and dissapointing.  So you're human after all….. just like me and most other people here on Gaia. I am a member of facebook and while it is useful for finding long lost friends and aquaintances, it is just not comparable to Gaia, the only useful feature on it, in my humble and Franco-irish opinion is its causes where one can give support to various deserving causes, but I feel that these causes can be easily helped as well outside Cyberspace. This said I would be happy to accept you as a friend on facebook, should you decide to become a member,
best wishes, Mike Dineen
