Secrets of the Tarot

why study the Tarot?
because it holds the key to life.
much like astrology can shed much light on personality and character traits, tarot reveals the EXPERIENCES of human life.
The Major Arcana (the first 21 cards + the Fool Card) each represent A different aspect of life, of learning. In essence, all human experiences falls under one of these 22 CATEGORIES.
too hard to believe?
don't you find yourself repeating patterns of behaviour, week after week, month after month, even year after year? and then one day, you get sick of it, and go try something new. This is what I mean by patterns of experience.
Forget the predictive side of tarot ... like astrology, too much is read into this. Who really wants to know the future anyway, in all its gory details? Why read the plot of a movie before going to see it? EXPERIENCE is what life is about.
No, both Tarot and Astrology are aids to understanding who we are; how the mind works, how the spirit functions. Why we are drawn in certain directions, and not others.
Tarot is about self-discovery.
And in the world of "know thyself" it is one of the ultimate tools you can wield.
plus they make great art.

Thanks for you blog today, I always look forward to read your blogs.
Yeah, I agree! I use Tarot for this reason all the time–just to figure out what's REALLY going on in my head. It's like a Rorshach (Inkblot) test–it's a way of getting around what you're blocking out of your awareness.
lol darn ya…i was just writing about that but my profile buttons wouldn't cooperate..stinker
As someone who has never performed a tarot reading, I suppose I should be a little more cynical. However, I really have a deep respect for the energy that flows within our universe, and how unaware we are of it. Awesome.
i have a friend here on gaia who is a very accomplished tarot reader but otherwise know almost nothing about it…
I have been amazed at the insights from the tarot. It can be like seeing through a window into archetypes playing out in our unconscious.
I like Tarot, but I also don't have much interest in using them for predictive readings.
There are some really beautiful Tarot decks and the symbolic imagery is endlessly fascinating. When in the right mood, I can stare at Tarot cards for hours. I like the Mythic Tarot because it uses Greek mythological stories, but it isn't the deck I'd consider the most beautiful. I'm not sure which deck is my favorite because its been a while since I've looked at them.
I recently bought the book Tarot and the Journey of the Hero by Hajo Banzhaf and Brigitte Theler. I haven't read it yet, but I'm excited to get into it… right after I finish all the other piles of books I have. Campbell's hero's journey is something that fascinates me even more than Tarot.
Am all for knowing myself in as many ways! Deep bows, wanderer7!
I have a video on Utube.
Tarot is just the very beginning of the journey. Great artwork? Why, Yes.
Cosmic Granny.
Ben, when you do read it, I hope you blog about it, and I agree about Campbell's hero journey!
I love the tarot cards and their meanings and always learn from them
